The word church has pagan roots and was not in the original Greek text of the Bible. The Greek word "ekklesia," unfortunately translated as "church," actually means an assembly, a gathering of people, or a congregation. However, the word church has come to mean buildings or religious institutions. In reality, the ekklesia consists of individuals who have experienced a spiritual new birth in Christ. And wherever two or more of these believers have gathered together in Jesus' name, they are the church and members of God's spiritual family.

During the 2020 shutdowns, many "churches" closed their doors, and without a building, many people were like lost sheep. But the church is not a building, business, or denomination; it is a spiritual family. Even now, many people are like wounded sheep who are separated from the flock of believers because they have been "church hurt" by pastoral abuses, false gospels, and the hypocrisy in worldly churches.

Jesus commanded us to preach the gospel and make disciples, period, no excuses. Whereas most Western church-goers ignore the great commission, and they probably will not stand if another shutdown comes, or in the face of real persecution. But the faithful followers of Jesus will always teach, preach, and meet with their Christian family, regardless of the circumstances or the conditions surrounding the locations where they meet. That mindset must begin now, or it will never happen.
